News on the security incident at the Ludwigsburg District Office

A security incident was identified at an early stage due to security measures taken by the district administration. It is assumed that an attack has taken place, but we will have to wait and see whether this is confirmed by the ongoing investigations. Employees of the Baden-Württemberg Cyber Security Agency and the State Office of Criminal Investigation are currently examining the situation. The district administration has set up an internal task force. Thanks to the early and swift intervention of all those involved, greater damage was averted.

District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier: "We are working flat out to find a solution so that we can offer the services of the district administration office to our citizens again as quickly as possible. Thanks to the good cooperation and support from the IT service provider PiraCon, the IT staff of the District Office, the Baden-Württemberg Cyber Security Agency, Komm.ONE and the State Office of Criminal Investigation, we were able to prevent the worst from happening. However, security remains our top priority, which is why we are currently unable to say when the systems will be back online."

It is not yet clear when the investigations will be completed, which is why all customer areas of the district administration office and its branch offices with digital applications, such as vehicle registration, the driving license office, the asylum department, the immigration office and the job center, will remain closed until further notice. Analogous appointments, for example debt counselling, the youth welfare office, the naturalization office as well as conferences, events or job interviews in the district building will continue to take place. It remains to be seen when full public access can be resumed. Efforts are being made to restore services on the basis of a priority list.
