Action Day for 9 to 14-year-olds on April 26 at the "Calypso" youth center in Erdmannhausen

The second Action Day will be held on April 26 at the "Calypso" youth center in Erdmannhausen: All 9- to 14-year-olds from the youth centers in the district can spend a day there with a varied program and delicious food.

The Action Day takes place in cooperation with the district youth welfare office and the district association of youth centers. There will be various sports activities, for example "tackle ball", a self-invented team game on a beach volleyball court, as well as various building and craft activities, for example key rings made from shrink film or folding chairs made from wood. The children can also help to cook the food. At one station, vegetarian paella is cooked over a fire in a large fire bowl, while at another there are different variations of the Hungarian specialty langos.

This year, the organizers are placing greater emphasis on sustainability when it comes to catering. To this end, reusable cups have been purchased that can be labeled with names. Carbonated water will be sourced regionally and in glass bottles, while non-carbonated water will be offered as "infused water" in drinks dispensers.

As things stand at present, children from the youth centers in Erdmannhausen, Pleidelsheim, Großbottwar, Steinheim, Murr, Sersheim and Oberstenfeld will be taking part. The organizers are expecting around 80 participants. Participation is free of charge. Registration is open until April 23 at the youth centers.
