The planning for the cycle highway 8 between Ludwigsburg and Waiblingen is entering the next phase. In order to incorporate the concerns and ideas of citizens into the design of the project, public participation will officially begin on June 20.
On the website radschnellweg8-lb-wn.de, which was created especially for the project, interested parties can find out in advance about the requirements, the planning status and the currently planned route of the cycle highway. This route is based on extensive preliminary investigations as part of a feasibility study, which were then fleshed out by transport planners from the participating districts and cities in the so-called preliminary planning. The aim of the cycle highway is to connect important (commuter) destinations. Traffic criteria (potential, time losses and integration into the overall network), environmental concerns and costs were also taken into account in the decision-making process.
The first interest groups have already been involved, including local farms, some of which provide land for the cycle highway and will later share the paths with cyclists, as well as the "everyday experts" from local cycling associations, who are well placed to assess where paths lead and how they should be designed so that they are well accepted by cyclists.
As part of the participation process, the project team is now hoping to gain the perspectives of local residents and future users of the cycle highway: what comments do they have on the proposed route, where do they see potential, where might there be room for improvement?
Public participation will take place over a period of two months, starting on June 20, 2023. A digital survey tool and an interactive map will allow the planning team to receive ideas, comments and suggestions during this period. At the end of the participation period, the suggestions received will be evaluated and checked to determine whether and to what extent they can be incorporated into the further design planning. The project team asks for your understanding in advance that comments cannot be commented on individually. Following the evaluation, feedback on the issues raised will be published on the website.
The participating districts (Ludwigsburg district, Rems-Murr district) and towns (Ludwigsburg, Remseck am Neckar, Waiblingen) are looking forward to receiving numerous responses from the public and would like to thank them in advance for their contributions to the planning of Cycle Superhighway 8.
