Starting June 18, Heat Warning Level 1 will be in effect in the Ludwigsburg district

Heat Alert Level 1 will be in effect for the Ludwigsburg district starting Thursday, June 18. This alert was issued by the steering committee established as part of the heat action plan, as daily temperatures of more than 32 degrees are forecast from June 18 through June 23. With the declaration of Heat Warning Level 1, alert chains are activated and tips are provided on how best to cope with the heat.

Heat Action Plan Supports Institutions and the Public

To be prepared for heat waves like the one coming up, the Ludwigsburg district has had a district-wide heat action plan in place since 2024. It contains specific recommendations for action and informational materials for schools, daycare centers, doctors’ offices, nursing facilities, and other institutions.

In addition, an alert system has been established, which was activated again this time. It notifies those in charge early on and reminds them of important protective measures, especially for people who are particularly at risk.

How to Stay Healthy in the Heat

The following ten tips will help you stay healthy during a heat wave:

  • Avoid the midday sun (11 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
  • Apply sunscreen before going outside
  • Use the morning and evening hours for activities such as shopping and exercise
  • Drink plenty of fluids (water, unsweetened tea)
  • Eat light meals whenever possible
  • Turn off unnecessary devices (avoid standby mode, which generates additional heat)
  • Wet wipes, spray bottles, and cool showers or foot baths can help you cool down
  • Keep windows closed and the room dark during the day
  • Ventilate only at night or early in the morning
  • Store medications in a dry place and avoid direct sunlight

Cool-Map shows cool places in the county

Anyone looking to cool off on hot days can also find suitable spots throughout the district on the district-wide Cool-Map. The interactive map is designed as a participatory project and is continuously being expanded. Residents can add additional cool places to visit. Information on heat protection in the Ludwigsburg district, as well as the Cool-Map, can be found on the district’s website at www.landkreis-ludwigsburg.de.
