From July 17: Complete closure of the K 1659 (Solitudestraße) in Gerlingen due to roadway renovation

The construction work on the district road K 1659 (Solitudestraße) in the Gerlingen district between the district border at Solitude Castle and the traffic circle at Schillerhöhe is progressing well and is on schedule. So far, three bus stops in this section have been converted to make them barrier-free. From Monday, July 17, the next step will be to renovate the asphalt structure of the K 1659 roadway. This will take place in two construction phases. A full road closure is necessary for each phase.

Next week, the area from the Schmider Kliniken access road to the district boundary, including the sidewalk in the direction of Schloss Solitude, will be resurfaced. The following week, the remaining section between the traffic circle at Schillerhöhe and the access road to Schmieder Kliniken will be repaired. Each section will be completely closed for one week during the construction period.

Pedestrians and cyclists will still be able to use the footpath from the traffic circle at Schillerhöhe to the entrance to the Schmieder Kliniken during both construction phases. However, the bus stops along the construction site will not be served. Passengers on route 92 with destination Schmieder Kliniken must use the bus stop "Gerlingen Schillerhöhe Bosch".

In order to keep the restrictions for car traffic as low as possible, appropriate detour routes are planned during the implementation of the work. Next week, traffic heading for Schmieder Kliniken will be routed from Solitude via Solitudestrasse and Wildparkstrasse to the traffic circle at Schillerhöhe. In the following week, the same detour will be made in the opposite direction.

The construction work will be completed by the end of July. The district is investing around 350,000 euros in maintaining its infrastructure.

The district administration office asks all road users and residents for their understanding for the obstructions and restrictions.
