Around 1.3 kilometers of the district road between Mundelsheim and Hessigheim will be repaired. Most of the renovation work is being carried out by paving. The road is in a poor condition and there are numerous depressions in the edge area as well as cracks in the network. In addition, the section in Mundelsheim from the entrance to the town to the junction with Karl-Epple-Straße is being repaired. The measure is therefore divided into two construction phases. As part of the work, the Neckar Valley cycle path between Mundelsheim and Hessigheim will be given a new asphalt surface layer.
The respective construction section will be fully closed to through traffic. Work will begin on March 13 with the out-of-town section. This is expected to take three to four weeks. The inner-local section and the cycle path will then be repaired at the same time. The road builders from the district administration office are also expecting this to take around three weeks.
Through traffic will be diverted from Mundelsheim via Großbottwarer Straße, L 1115 and K 1620 to Hessigheim and vice versa. During the second construction phase, cyclists will be routed from the Neckar Valley cycle path via the renovated K 1677. During this time, the out-of-town section will remain closed to through traffic. Residents are expected to be able to use the K 1677 out of town together with cycle traffic again from mid-April.
Bus services will also be affected by the construction work. Passengers should inform themselves in good time about timetable changes and cancellations.
The district has allocated around 650,000 euros from the district road construction program for the project.
The district administration asks all road users for their understanding for possible traffic obstructions, especially in the detour area.
