17 dead animals discovered on a farm in Erligheim

17 dead animals have been discovered on a farm in Erligheim. They had apparently died of starvation or thirst. Disposal of the animal carcasses is ordered. Measures against the animal owner for a suspected violation of the Animal Welfare Act are being investigated. Employees of the district veterinary office and police officers from the Ludwigsburg police headquarters' commercial and environmental division were on site.

The veterinary office of the district administration was informed by telephone on Wednesday afternoon by the Ludwigsburg police headquarters
that several
dead pigs, cattle and chickens had been found in a small livestock farm in Erligheim. Officers from the Bietigheim-
Bissingen police station were on site.

The farm is a small part-time business with a few cattle, a few
pigs and chickens. The veterinary office visited the farm on Wednesday together with officers
from the trade and environment department of the Ludwigsburg police headquarters and the
Bietigheim-Bissingen police station. The inspection confirmed the suspicion that
all but one pig had died due to a lack of care.

The stables were in a poor hygienic condition, the cattle and chickens had
neither enough water nor feed, the pigs had water but not enough feed available
. Apart from one live pig, which was immediately cared for and housed in an animal-friendly manner
, there were no other animals on the farm.

According to the impression gained, the animal owner is in a personal state of emergency.
The outcome of the ongoing investigation into suspected violations of the Animal Welfare Act
remains to be seen. The veterinary office has issued a ban on keeping animals
to the animal owner.
