Water contamination in Möglingen: Measures continue - Further samples under investigation

In connection with the drinking water contamination in the Löscher residential area, the Ludwigsburg District Office and the municipality of Möglingen are providing an update on the current situation. The use of tap water for drinking or preparing food is still not approved by the health authority. The existing restrictions therefore remain unchanged. The municipal crisis team is meeting regularly to evaluate the situation.

After the first measures were withdrawn yesterday (Friday), sample analyses are continuing. These will be examined in the course of Saturday. The health department of the Ludwigsburg district office is in close contact with the municipality of Möglingen and the commissioned laboratories in order to obtain reliable results as quickly as possible. The building yard is continuously flushing the pipe network in order to remove any remaining contamination from the system.

Measures still apply

The public is asked to continue to strictly observe the existing instructions. The all-clear will only be given after complete clearance by the public health department.

Boiling the water is not sufficient to remove the contamination. The water has not yet been approved for consumption, oral hygiene such as brushing teeth, or for cleaning wounds, as the final laboratory analysis is not yet available.

The public health department advises that all indoor and outdoor water pipes should be allowed to run for at least 10 minutes. The tap water can then be used for showering, bathing or washing. Dishwashers and washing machines should also be left running empty.

People returning from vacation are also advised to flush all pipes for at least 10 minutes after their return.

The following instructions from the health authorities still apply:

  • Do not drink tap water
  • Do not use tap water to prepare food
  • Do not use tap water to brush your teeth or clean open wounds

Citizens are asked to strictly follow these instructions.

Water supply ensured

The water supply points are still in operation and will remain open tomorrow, Easter Sunday. It is recommended that you take the opportunity this Saturday to obtain a sufficient supply of drinking water.
