What you can learn from cows and calves

There are now two new "farm learning locations" in the Ludwigsburg district: the Rau dairy farm in the Vaihingen district of Enzweihingen and the Scheuerman/Lindenberger dairy farm in Ludwigsburg-Oßweil have now put up the symbolic signs.

A woman stands in a barn surrounded by cows, holding a sign that reads "Lernort Bauernhof in Baden-Württemberg." The setting is rustic, with a muted light coming from a window in the background, emphasizing the agricultural theme.

New in the circle of farm learning locations: the Scheuermann family farm...

A woman stands in a barn holding a sign that promotes educational farm experiences in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Cows are visible in the background, and the setting is a typical farm environment. The focus is on the woman and the informational sign.

... and the Rau family business

Word is getting around that visiting a learning farm is a good thing. More and more school classes are visiting certified farms - whether for just two hours or for a project with three farm visits a year. The focus is always on doing and participating. The special feature of these farms is their educational concept, which allows pupils and teachers to gain practical experience of agricultural topics and work directly on a farm and to learn on site. This is usually enhanced with learning stations and sensory experiences. With the two new farms, a total of 18 farms in the Ludwigsburg district and two in Stuttgart are now demonstrating their educational focus and openness for school classes or kindergarten groups - or for interested adults

However, these farm visits are also recommended for groups of adults - as a consumer, the path of the food from the producer to the plate can become more transparent and comprehensible. By presenting the farm sign, the farms are recognized as official partners of the Lernort Bauernhof project in Baden Württemberg. The Middle Neckar Nutrition Center at the Ludwigsburg District Office now looks after over 20 farms. The Lernort Bauernhof farms receive financial support from the district of Ludwigsburg. The Ludwigsburg-Heilbronn Farmers' Association, which is also a cooperation partner of Lernort Bauernhof, provides financial support for the farm signs.
