The day began with the joint singing of the two-school song and a rhythmic rap. After the welcome and the official starting signal by the principals, the kindergarten and primary classes ran their laps together with the 1st grade of the Fröbelschule. This was followed by the other age groups. Each lap was marked with a rubber band on the arm so that the performance could be evaluated later. "Around 550 pupils took part this year - more than ever before," said a delighted Peter Krause, Head of Special Education at the school in Favoritepark. A cooperation class from Asperg also took part. Those who were not running supported the others at the edge of the course with loud cheering.
It was not only the ambition of the participants that ensured their sporting achievements, but also good refreshments: In addition to drinks, bite-sized, healthy and nutritious snacks from the school kitchen were available during the run. Numerous parents also actively supported the charity run as marshals and with the organization.
Donations collected go to charitable projects and school support associations
In the run-up to the event, the pupils had looked for sponsors in their families who donated a certain amount for each lap they ran. As is the case every year, a portion of the donations is donated to charity, while the rest goes to the schools and their support associations. This year, the orientation level of the school at Favoritepark decided to donate an amount to a kindergarten and orphanage project in Tanzania(www.machica-foerderverein.de)- an idea that was born during lessons on the topic of Africa.
In addition to sporting ambition, the main focus was on the joy of working together. In this way, the pupils were not only able to support their school, but also make a valuable contribution to a good cause. "The charity run was a great success again this year and showed how much can be achieved through team spirit and commitment," said special school principal Krause.
