New course aims to provide help for separated or divorced parents

Under the title "Mastering separation - strengthening children", the Ludwigsburg district's psychological advice center is once again offering free group training for separated or divorced parents in collaboration with the Caritas psychological family and life counseling service. The group is intended for ten to twelve parents. The introductory event will take place on November 11 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Haus Edith Stein in Ludwigsburg-Hoheneck, Parkstraße 34. Five further dates will follow each week on Mondays from 3 to 6 p.m. The group training aims to provide those affected with help to cope with the situation and find new solutions.

Separations or divorces are difficult and stressful situations for parents and children. Nevertheless, it is important to come to an understanding and minimize the negative effects, especially on the children. This is where the training offered comes in: It aims to accompany those affected through this difficult phase and provide help with which a separation situation can be better managed. By looking at one's own behavior in a more objective context, new options for action can be discovered and solutions found. It is about maintaining communication between the parents, the needs of children in separation situations and tips on how a separated couple can fulfill their parental role well. Materials help the participants to implement the content they have learned in everyday life.

The titles of the six parent training modules are: "Separation and opportunity"

(November 11), "Conflicts and Solutions" (November 18), "My Child and the Separation" (November 25), "Staying Parents - Part 1" (December 2), "Staying Parents - Part 2" (December 9) and "Future Model Working Team" (December 16). Childcare will be provided during the events if required. Only one parent can take part in the group at a time. There are still a few places available for the training. For the second parent - if desired - a further training session will begin on March 17, 2020, for which there are currently still many places available.

Participation in the parent training is free of charge.
