Joint press release from the districts of Böblingen, Esslingen, Göppingen, Ludwigsburg and Rems-Murr-Kreis
Districts in the region move even closer together during the crisis
LUDWIGSBURG: The district councils of the Stuttgart region welcome the state's uniform regulations. In view of the continuing rise in the number of coronavirus cases, the five district councils of the Stuttgart region agreed to work even more closely together during the crisis during a telephone conference last Sunday. During the crisis, the Stuttgart region must move even closer together and act jointly. They are convinced of this, because inconsistent and unevenly implemented measures to protect against Covid 19 infections are unnecessarily causing uncertainty and raising questions among the population.
Especially when it comes to restrictions on public life, it is important that the same restrictions determine and enforce people's everyday lives everywhere. Today's state ordinance on infection protection measures against the spread of the SARS-Cov-2 virus now provides clarity and is expressly welcomed.
In view of the dynamic development, the districts recommend that their cities and municipalities, as the responsible local police authorities, also cancel events with fewer than 100 people. They are appealing to the population to assume their responsibility and keep social contacts to a minimum.
It has also been agreed that the municipal hospitals in the region will coordinate closely. In times of crisis, there is neither competition nor rivalry, but healthcare must be seen as a joint task. Priority would be given to overcoming the bottlenecks in the supply of medical protective equipment. The problems have already been addressed to the federal and state governments, but supplies are still not guaranteed. All forces in the Stuttgart region must therefore be pooled.
Last but not least, the work of the district administrations should also be organized in a largely synchronized manner during the crisis. This is also intended to ensure that the administrations can continue to work in times of crisis so that we can continue to be there for the population in vital areas, according to the district administrators. Accordingly, public traffic is being reduced to a minimum in all five district offices. Personal visits to authorities will only be possible by appointment. This also applies to the registration and driving license offices.
From Tuesday, March 17, 2020, there will only be limited service operations in the district administration in all five districts. As a general rule, personal visits to the offices of the district administration are only possible in emergencies and by prior appointment with the responsible division or clerk.
