District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier presented Gabriele Stern with the Staufer Medal.

In his speech, District Administrator Allgaier emphasized the special importance of voluntary work and focused on the merits of the honoree: "Gabriele Stern stands for reliability, energy and the firm will to stand up for others. This extraordinary commitment is particularly in keeping with the spirit of the Staufer Medal."

Versatile commitment to the common good

A look at Stern's career shows the extraordinary breadth of her commitment: she has been a member of the Asperg local council since 2014 and is actively involved in local political work in various committees. As a master hairdresser, she has been a member of the master craftsman examination committee of the Stuttgart Chamber of Crafts for over two decades and is committed to training and promoting young talent. Her work in the Société Française de Biosthétique, most recently as President of the German section, as well as her many years of commitment to the Order of St. Lazarus and the German Lazarus Foundation - especially for people in need and leprosy sufferers - illustrate her tireless commitment to the common good, said District Administrator Allgaier in his speech.

Special recognition

The award was presented in the presence of numerous guests from politics, society and voluntary work. In his welcoming address, Asperg's mayor Christian Eiberger also paid tribute to Stern's achievements and emphasized the great importance of her work for the community: "With her extraordinary commitment, she has shaped our town and helped many people. This selfless work deserves the highest respect and recognition. We are proud to have such a committed personality in our midst."

Background: The Staufer Medal

The Staufer Medal is a special, personal award presented by the Minister President for services to the state of Baden-Württemberg and its people. It is usually awarded in silver, in rare cases also in gold. The Staufer Medal is also intended to honor services to the common good that have been rendered over many years, usually in an honorary, social or civic capacity, over and above actual professional duties.
