District Administrator Dr. Haas visits Untersteinbach leisure facility for the last time: "Proud of this gem"

There were two reasons for District Administrator Dr. Rainer Haas to visit the tent camp at the Untersteinbach leisure facility in the Hohenlohe district on Thursday (22 August): The facility, which is run by the Ludwigsburg sports district, is not only celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, but also a new extension that expands the kitchen wing and dining room. "In future, even capricious weather will no longer affect the food service. The extension also ensures that a good 220 young people can eat with their supervisors at the same time - in a much nicer atmosphere than the tent previously offered," said Haas. The visit also included the signing of a contract, the presentation of a cheque, an ice-cream donation, a tribute and a taps ceremony.

A group of students and two adults are gathered around a table showcasing a detailed model of a landscape. The adults are seated at the front, actively engaged with the model, while the students stand behind them, smiling and posing for the photo in a room decorated with simple party decor.

The new building will cost around 550,000 euros, with the district providing a subsidy of 150,000 euros. The remainder will be financed by the Ludwigsburg sports district and the association for the promotion of youth sports. The head of the district administration emphasized that a voluntary contribution of this magnitude is not an everyday occurrence for the district council. However, if you consider that the facility is designed to be used for 30 to 40 years and that around 400 young people plus supervisors benefit from it during the summer camps alone, this sum is put into perspective. However, as it would not be possible to maintain the facility in Steinbacher Tal by simply constructing extensions and new buildings, he thanked the numerous volunteers "who made the vacation stays possible in the first place". He also thanked the municipality of Untersteinbach, the Rebmann and Schaller families, the Sportkreis team and the Sportkreis Youth.

"There are experience-oriented leisure activities here that have a lasting effect on the participants and strengthen the sense of community and cohesion. Teamwork and reliability are encouraged and strengthen the self-confidence of each participant. In addition, people from all walks of life and different nationalities come together - that's why the Untersteinbach leisure facility is so important," said the head of the district administration. "60 years of Untersteinbach - that means more than 23,000 children and young people who have been guests here as leisure participants and have been able to experience natural, eventful and exciting days. Around 620 helpers were involved, creating an incomparable atmosphere for the participants year after year." Finally, District Administrator Haas congratulated the sports district on the 60th anniversary of the leisure facility with a 500 euro cheque from his personal funds, handed out ice cream for all participants and said: "The district of Ludwigsburg is proud of this gem."

Finally, District Administrator Haas and Matthias Müller, President of the Ludwigsburg Sports District, signed a contract to secure future cooperation between the sports district and the district. President Müller then presented District Administrator Haas with the Sports District Certificate of Honor and the Hungarian supervisor András Riegler played the trumpet for the District Administrator, who was in Untersteinbach for the last time in this role.
