The focus of the partnership activities is on bringing young people together. To this end, partnerships between schools, associations and other institutions are to be intensified and maintained, cultural, social and economic contacts as well as the development of relationships in the field of tourism and local politics are to be promoted.
The cooperation is already evident in the Youth Citizens' Council with 25 young people from Bergamo and Ludwigsburg, who are learning lessons from the coronavirus pandemic, which hit Bergamo particularly hard, said District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier in his speech: "We want to strengthen mutual understanding, especially in politically and economically uncertain times, promote European growth together and secure freedom and peace." President Pasquale Gandolfi called for "building bridges instead of walls".
Other participants in the delegation were members of the district council and Dr. Alexander Lahl, Director of the Verband Region Stuttgart. The district youth orchestra of the Ludwigsburg District Brass Band Association, conducted by Roland Haug, entertained the enthusiastic audience in Bergamo with concertante pieces ranging from opera to polka under the motto "Musica per la Pace". District Administrator Allgaier presented the musical ambassadors of the district with a cheque for 10,000 euros from the Art, Culture and Education Foundation of Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg.
In addition to the hoped-for youth exchange, the partnership is also intended to strengthen links between political bodies and economic organizations. In addition to his thanks ("Grazie per la sua ospitalità"), District Administrator Allgaier extended an invitation to a return visit to Ludwigsburg, which is due to take place in November.
Info:

The district of Ludwigsburg has maintained a friendly relationship with the province of Bergamo for two decades. The first meeting was arranged by Prof. Alberto Barzanò from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan. In 2020, the "Ludwigsburger Hütte" (previously Rifugio Barbellino) was symbolically presented to the district.
The municipality of Hemmingen, whose mayor Thomas Schäfer also attended the signing of the partnership agreement in Bergamo, signed a friendship agreement with Almenno San Bartolomeo in January 2019 and the municipality of Schwieberdingen is in contact with the municipality of Caravaggio.
