Bundled information on cycling in the district

The website www.landkreis-ludwigsburg.de/radverkehr contains information on all aspects of promoting cycling in the district. The web portal was recently expanded to include an overview of contact persons in all 39 district municipalities.

A laptop displaying a webpage about cycling in Ludwigsburg is shown, featuring a black bicycle against a brick wall. A potted plant is partially visible in the background, contributing to a casual indoor setting.

What services are available for cyclists in the district? Where are new cycle paths planned? When will the next RadCHECK take place in my municipality? Anyone interested in cycling promotion measures in the district will find what they are looking for on the cycling website of the Ludwigsburg District Office. "The best cycling offers are useless if nobody knows about them," says District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier, summarizing the motivation behind the creation of the overview.

Since November 2020, the portal has grown steadily and includes extensive information as well as the latest reports:

  • Cycle paths & network expansion: How are cycle paths planned and by whom? How does the district ensure that the network is expanded? What current measures are planned?
  • Fast cycle routes: Where are these attractive routes for commuters planned in the district and what is the current status of each?
  • Route planning & signposting: What analog and digital orientation options do cyclists have in the district?
  • Repair stations: Where are the locations of the more than 30 repair pillars and where are there large bike stations with comprehensive services?
  • Connected mobility: What services are available for commuters who want to combine bus, train and bike? Where are there bike rental stations and shared cargo bikes?
  • Cycle tourism: Where are the district's own routes and where are the state long-distance cycle routes? Which tourist highlights can be explored by bike? How can you get maps and route data?
  • Activities: CITY CYCLING, free pedelec training, bike checks, etc.
  • NEW: Contact persons from the district municipalities

"It has always been our goal to create a wide range of information for all citizens of the district," says Lisa Röthinger, who has been responsible for public relations work relating to cycling in the district for around one and a half years. "Strictly speaking, the district administration is only responsible for a relatively small proportion of the cycle path network. However, for cyclists out and about, it is irrelevant whether they are on a state, district or municipal cycle path. That's why we provide information from the entire district and thus support smaller municipalities in particular that are unable to provide their own cycle communication." Recently, this has also included an overview with contact information from the 39 district municipalities. Anyone who has a specific question about a cycling offer in their municipality or town or would like to report damage to a cycle path, for example, can find the right contact person straight away. Of course, citizens can also continue to contact the district cycling officers, who can pass on any concerns.
