Delayed approval of funds results in a tight application deadline
Eleven municipalities and the district of Ludwigsburg founded the "Neckarschleifen Regional Development" association in 2020 to promote small-scale projects aimed at preserving steep-slope viticulture and the wine culture landscape. This created the conditions for using the regional budget funding program. The regional budget for small projects is an additional funding pot designated at federal level to strengthen rural areas. This year, the program will become state funding.
These projects are being funded
The association supports investment projects for the preservation of steep slope vineyards in accordance with the objectives of the integrated rural development concept "ILEK-Neckarschleifen" (Integrated Rural Development Concept) in the following areas
- Steep slope viticulture as cultural heritage and image carrier of the region: profiling steep slope wines
- Developing the Neckarschleifen wine and cultural landscape as an experience area and tourist destination
- Vineyard terraces with a new future - innovative uses and prospects for fallow steep slopes
- Cultural heritage as a community task - creating awareness and finding partners
Legal entities under public law (municipalities, churches, companies, clubs, associations) and natural persons and partnerships (private individuals, GbR, KG, farmers) can apply for funding.
Further requirements for project submission
The investment must be implemented within the boundaries of the member municipalities. These are Benningen am Neckar, Besigheim, Bönnigheim, Freiberg am Neckar, Gemmrigheim, Hessigheim, Ingersheim, Kirchheim am Neckar, Lauffen am Neckar, Mundelsheim and Walheim.
The projects with a net investment sum of between €2,500 and €20,000 must be fully implemented and settled in 2024. A total of €200,000 in funding is available.
Apply for funding until May 17th
The deadline for applications is May 17, 2024. The application must include the project description, approvals from other authorities, offers and a detailed cost estimate. Due to the delayed disbursement of funding, there will be no short application as in previous years.

About the association
The association uses the Regional Budget funding program, an additional funding pot previously designated at federal level to strengthen rural areas. In 2024, the funding will switch to state funding. Funding is provided for small projects in the ILE (integrated rural development) municipalities that promote the Neckarschleifen region. For this purpose, there are the fields of action of the Neckarschleifen ILEK, which was developed between 2015 and 2017. These serve as the basis for project eligibility.
