European Mobility Week under the motto "Mobility for all" - district shows diverse approaches to sustainable transportation

The European Mobility Week (EMW) has been taking place every year from September 16 to 22 since 2002. Municipalities from all over Europe take part, showcase innovative transport solutions and draw attention to sustainable mobility locally with creative ideas. In 2024, 196 cities, municipalities and districts took part in Germany alone. The Ludwigsburg District Office is taking part with its own events, as are the district municipalities of Bietigheim-Bissingen, Freiberg am Neckar and Ludwigsburg.

Mobility is a basic need - it enables work, education, shopping, visits to the doctor, family contacts and leisure activities. But while mobility is essential for everyday life, it also has a negative impact on the climate and the environment: in Germany alone, transport now accounts for almost a quarter of greenhouse gas emissions. How we get around therefore makes a crucial difference. This is precisely where the European Mobility Week comes in: It invites people to try out new ways of sustainable transportation and discover solutions for a climate-friendly future together.

Offers and activities of the Ludwigsburg District Office

The Ludwigsburg District Office is organizing various activities as part of the campaign week. All activities are accompanied by the two official EMW mascots: Edda and Edgar.

On Wednesday, September 17, 2025, in the courtyard of the health department (Hindenburgstraße 20/1), the popular bike check from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and a police information stand will once again be offered to the public. For the first time, the district administration office will also be offering an information stand on cycling. In the evening, there will be an online information event on the topic of "Charging made easy - enabling e-mobility at home" in cooperation with the district's Schiller Adult Education Center.

The district-wide "Art and Mobility" project will also be launched with the EMW. Schools can submit creative entries to show what the mobility of tomorrow will look like for them.

Mobility in the social media

A theme week will also be running throughout the week via the district's social media channels. Posts on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn will highlight the various aspects of "mobility for all" and present suitable projects.
