Previously, stores with less than 800 square meters of sales area were allowed to admit one person per 10 square meters, and only one person per 20 square meters for areas exceeding this. However, the new version of the Infection Protection Act stipulates only one customer per 20 square meters of sales area for the first 800 square meters if incidences exceed 100 - and only one customer per 40 square meters beyond that. This also applies to discount stores and supermarkets.
In recent days, the district administration office and Ludwigsburg police headquarters have received an increasing number of reports from the public about overcrowded supermarkets.
"In view of the currently very tense infection situation in the Ludwigsburg district, it is important that the regulations are adhered to. This is the only way we can further minimize the risk of infection, especially in our supermarkets. I have therefore asked the police and local authorities to pay particular attention to the situation in supermarkets and discount stores," says District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier.
Police Commissioner Burkhard Metzger: "The police are aware that the pandemic-related restrictions are putting more and more pressure on people. However, with the very high number of infections, we cannot let things drift. That's why we will also take a measured approach to the situation at supermarkets."
Allgaier and Metzger appeal to the operators of open stores to consistently implement and ensure access restrictions. In the interest of protecting against infection, they ask customers to be prepared for any waiting times that may arise and to always ensure sufficient distance from others in the stores in addition to wearing a mandatory mask.
