The hands-on campaign "Schulwegprofis" is a fun way for primary school children to learn that walking to school themselves is not only fun, but also has many benefits.
More safety - fewer parent taxis
In addition to the pupils, the general public also benefits from the campaign. For example, parents are made aware of the importance of an active journey to school. It also reduces the number of parent cabs and increases safety around the school.
The pupils record every active journey to school on a class poster. In this way, they motivate each other to walk or scoot to school more often. The elementary school with the most active routes nationwide (in relation to the total number of pupils) will receive a prize for an active break. Accompanying teaching materials for different subjects supplement the campaign with suggestions, information and specific tasks for walking to school and provide long-term inspiration.
The "Schulwegprofis" take place as part of the state program MOVERS - Active to School, which advises and supports schools and municipalities on the way to safe and self-active mobility for children and young people. The campaign was first tested in the district of Ludwigsburg in 2023. The competition has been running nationwide since 2024.
Further campaigns: European Mobility Week and the steps competition
The district is also focusing on the topic of pedestrian traffic during the European Mobility Week from September 16 to 22 and as part of the Schritte competition from October 1 to 31, 2025. Interministerial state program MOVERS
The interministerial state program MOVERS - Active to School advises and supports schools and municipalities in the implementation of school mobility management measures. The interministerial program was conceived under the leadership of the Ministry of Transport together with the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Education. The project is coordinated at state level by Nahverkehrsgesellschaft Baden-Württemberg mbH (NVBW).
MOVERS aims to strengthen the self-active and safe mobility of children and young people on their way to school. Individual measures, such as bike pools, school cycling or the promotion of bicycle parking facilities, are bundled under one roof. The goal: a comprehensive, comprehensive offer for schools and its effective implementation throughout Baden-Württemberg. All information on the state program can be found at www.movers-bw.de.
