Practice shows it: Surveying technology is exciting!

The kick-off event for the Geodesy Action Week took place on Sunday (July 14) on Ludwigsburg's market square. Various fields of activity in the profession of surveyor/geodesist were presented by departments of the District Office and the City of Ludwigsburg.

A public square features a fountain surrounded by small trees, with a church in the background. Several people are walking, and two orange vans are parked nearby. Tents are set up, indicating an event or gathering in the area. The atmosphere appears lively and communal.

Pupils' interest in the profession of surveying technician was aroused with practical demonstrations. In addition, experts at various schools in the district drew attention to the profession.

At the kick-off event, five activity stands were set up on the market square, where various aspects of surveying work were presented. Practical demonstrations, such as measuring distances with a total station, were used to illustrate these for schoolchildren and other interested parties. A large number of interested people attended and were impressed by the wide range of applications and the modern appearance of today's surveying profession. In addition, experts from the District Office and the City of Ludwigsburg provided visitors with information about the profession, training and internships at an information stand.

As part of the campaign week, surveying experts also visit various schools in the district to raise awareness of the surveying profession. Pupils are allowed to operate the surveyors' instruments themselves under supervision.

The surveying administrations of the district and the city hope to attract many young people to the profession in this way. The campaign week is intended to help recruit enough young people in the surveying sector.
