Head of Department Andreas Eschbach welcomes Hungarian student group to the district exchange: "Precious friendships" are forged during student exchanges

A group of Hungarian students and two accompanying teachers from the Corvin Mátyás Gimnázium Budapest visited the Ludwigsburg District Office on Monday (April 8). Andreas Eschbach, Head of the Central Management and Schools Department, welcomed the guests to the district office.

As part of the exchange with the partner school Carl-Schaefer-Schule (CSS), 16 pupils and two teachers were guests at the district hall. The group was also accompanied by Andrea Theile-Stadelmann, Head of the Carl Schaefer School (CSS), and two other teachers from CSS.

"The student exchange between the Corvin Mátyás Gimnázium and the Carl Schaefer School is a living testimony to the close ties between our countries," said Andreas Eschbach at the reception for the students in the Kreishaus. It has now become a wonderful tradition. "However, the friendships that develop are the most precious part of this exchange experience," continued Eschbach.

The Hungarians visit the CSS and the district of Ludwigsburg for a total of seven days. The program includes a visit to the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, the Ritter Sport chocolate factory in Tübingen and a guided tour of the Baroque Palace and the Blooming Baroque in Ludwigsburg.

Long-standing friendship: school partnership has existed for 35 years

The school partnership between the Carl Schaefer School and the Corvin Mátyás Gimnázium Budapest has existed since 1989. The school partnership was officially sealed in 1999. In 2014, the partnership celebrated its 25th anniversary and in 2015, a tree planting ceremony was held at CSS to mark this anniversary. In 2019, the 30th anniversary was celebrated with an evening event at CSS. The student exchanges have been taking place at regular intervals since 1994. However, they had to be canceled from 2020 to 2022 due to coronavirus.

CSS is a district vocational school, while the Corvin Mátyás Gimnázium Budapest comprises both a general and a vocational high school. Pupils from different classes who have made good progress in learning German can take part in the exchange.
