"We are awarding the prize because we want to duly honor creative, high-quality construction that is suitable for everyday use and make it public. Exemplary planned and constructed buildings are an important guarantee for quality of life, which is demonstrably high in the densely populated district of Ludwigsburg," says District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier.
The award is given to submissions that are exemplary for architecture and urban design in our everyday lives and that make a positive contribution to the well-being and coexistence of people. This can be a public square or garden as well as a school or barn - by no means just spectacular large-scale projects. The aim of the award process is to identify exemplary architecture and offer it a forum. After all, many buildings that would otherwise go unnoticed deserve to be seen by the public.
All clients who have built together with an architect are invited to take part. However, all chamber members - from the fields of architecture, interior design, landscape architecture or urban planning - are also invited to submit entries. Regardless of who takes the initiative, the award goes to both partners. After all, building culture can only be created where clients and planners work together to find an environmentally friendly and, above all, people-oriented solution to the building task.
The award-winning buildings are extensively documented on the Internet(www.akbw.de/objekte), in the Baden-Württemberg Architecture Guide app and in a brochure. In addition, the clients and architects are presented with certificates at a ceremony, and a plaque to be attached to the building is also part of the award. The last "Exemplary Building" process in the Ludwigsburg district took place in 2019. 22 buildings received an award at that time.
The submission deadline is September 3, detailed award documents can be found at www.akbw.de/azv-ausschreibungen/.
