International Men’s Day, which takes place annually on November 19, provides an opportunity to focus more attention on men’s health. Traditional gender roles can lead men to pay less attention to health issues, take more risks, and make less use of health promotion and preventive care services. Yet early prevention can play a key role in detecting diseases in a timely manner and thereby optimizing treatment outcomes.
Prevention of Cancer and Cardiovascular Diseases
The event will take place in the large conference room of the district administration building, Hindenburgstraße 40, in Ludwigsburg. The presentation will focus on issues related to cancer prevention and early detection. The speakers will provide information on which cancer screening tests are recommended at what ages, and whether and how cancer can be prevented through screening. Special emphasis will be placed on modern treatment methods for the most common type of cancer in men: prostate cancer. In addition, risk factors and preventive measures for cardiovascular diseases will be discussed.
Registration is open until November 13—attendance is free
The goal of the event is to dispel uncertainties and promote an open and active approach to preventive care and health topics. All interested individuals are invited—men, women, and people of other gender identities. Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity for discussion and personal conversations over light refreshments.
Please register at gleichstellungsbeauftragte[at]landkreis-ludwigsburg.de by November 13.
The event is organized by the Ludwigsburg District’s Equal Opportunity Officer.
