Future strategy for the district of Ludwigsburg: Successful kick-off on October 1

The district of Ludwigsburg has kicked off the development of a future strategy for the business location with a kick-off event. Representatives from the majority of the district's municipalities, various departments and specialist areas of the district office as well as business-related institutions came together on Tuesday (October 1, 2024) to jointly set the course for the district's economic future.

The economy in the Ludwigsburg district is facing major changes in the coming years. Topics such as digitalization, technological change and ecological transformation are already having a major impact on companies. At the same time, the emergence of new markets and technologies offers great opportunities that need to be exploited. In order to actively tackle these challenges and future-proof the business location, it was decided to develop a comprehensive strategy for the future.

District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier emphasizes the importance of the event: "We are facing enormous change that will affect our economy, our working world and our entire society. We therefore want to address the question of what we can do at municipal level, as stakeholders in the district of Ludwigsburg, in order to leave behind a strong business location for future generations. The future strategy should lay the foundation for the sustainable and future-oriented development of our district."

Strengthening cooperation and promoting innovation

The strategy is to be developed in a participatory process involving all relevant stakeholders under the technical direction of VDI VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH. Based on the expectations and forecasts of the economy, the perspectives of the Ludwigsburg district as a business location will first be determined. These are to form the basis for a vision of the future and the derivation of measures and projects for economic development. The course of this process was presented at the event and initial suggestions and questions from participants were taken on board.

"The future strategy gives us the opportunity to actively shape the future. Many sectors are undergoing a profound transformation and, as a strong business location, we can accompany and support them in this process. And we now also have the opportunity to position ourselves together in the nationwide competition for new industries from future technologies," explains Oliver Reichert, Economic Development Manager of the Ludwigsburg district.

Diverse challenges for the business location require new solutions

In addition to developing a vision for the future of the district, the strategy should also produce concrete measures and projects to strengthen the location. At the kick-off event, initial topics for the future strategy were already indicated, such as the shortage of skilled workers, an increase in the number of shortage occupations and difficulties on the training market, greater support for start-ups and further training opportunities for companies in transformation.

The next phase of the strategy process begins with the determination of future developments and the actual needs of the local economy in several surveys and specialist discussions. In the further course of the process, the topics of the future strategy are narrowed down in a strategy workshop, for which local solutions are then sought in dialog with the stakeholders. At the same time, the future vision for the district of Ludwigsburg will be developed, which will also focus on opportunities for establishing future industries in the district of Ludwigsburg. A future workshop will then be held to work together on possible courses of action, necessary measures and project ideas.

"Our strength lies in the diversity of the players and our joint innovative power," says District Administrator Allgaier. "Together, we will develop solutions that not only meet the current challenges, but also make our district successful in the long term."
