“The nature trail is a free nature experience for families and children. At the interactive stations, skills related to education for sustainable development are taught in a playful way, and nature can be experienced with all the senses,” explains Dr. Simon Boden, head of the Forestry Department at the Ludwigsburg District Office.
Wusel has also visited Großbottwar before. Now the little forest mouse is returning: Mayor Ralf Zimmermann recently opened the adventure trail together with colleagues from the Forestry Department. The children from the Hof and Lembach kindergartens gave Wusel a particularly warm welcome. They were the first group to enthusiastically explore the new trail.
“A Forest Adventure for the Whole Family”
“We’re very pleased that Wusel the forest mouse is stopping by Großbottwar again. The Wusel Trail offers families a wonderful opportunity right on their doorstep to spend time together in nature. This turns an autumn walk into a varied forest adventure for the whole family,” emphasizes Mayor Zimmermann.
René Frank, the forest district manager responsible for Großbottwar, welcomes Wusel’s return: “Even in the colder months, there’s plenty to discover in the forest. The Forest Olympics invite people to get active, have fun together, and learn interesting facts about our local nature along the way.”
The Forest Olympics Are Open
The mobile forest adventure trail was launched in 2021 and has been touring the Ludwigsburg district ever since. Along the way, Wusel has been delighting families and children in many places.
This year, Wusel has invited all his animal friends from the forest to Großbottwar. Together, they’ve prepared a Forest Olympics featuring 13 interactive hands-on stations. At the various stations, visitors can, among other things, join the fox on an exciting trail hunt through the underbrush or play a round of forest croquet with the badger. These small challenges turn into a big forest adventure for the whole family. The visit can be perfectly combined with a detour to the nearby forest playground.
Forest Adventure Trail on Winter Break Starting in Mid-November
Wusel will still be out and about in the Kälbling Forest until mid-November, before the little forest mouse takes a winter break. During this time, new ideas will be gathered before Wusel packs his bags again next year with a new theme and sets off on a discovery tour of the district.
