Dr. Thomas Pauer, site manager and member of the divisional board of the Bosch drive division, introduced the minister to the Bosch site in Schwieberdingen and informed her about the company's current projects. The discussions focused in particular on the area of e-mobility and the current challenges.
District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier highlighted the economic strength of the Ludwigsburg district and the development of its infrastructure. The district of Ludwigsburg regularly occupies one of the top places in Germany. According to Allgaier, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find suitable commercial space for companies in the densely populated district.
Mayor Nico Lauxmann focused his presentation on the economic structure of the municipality of Schwieberdingen. The realization of the planned regional commercial focus for the municipality should be forward-looking. This was approved by a majority in the 2019 referendum. Talks with the owners of the land in question are set to begin in December 2020 - the acquisition of ownership is a fundamental prerequisite for realizing the commercial hub. At the same time, the mayor explained the joint efforts with Robert Bosch GmbH to achieve a "Schwieberdinger Ast" as an additional public transport connection for the business park. The planned expansion of the B10, which is included in the federal transportation plan, is also absolutely essential in order to relieve traffic flows now.
Minister Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut:
"Regional commercial centers are a prerequisite for the future viability of Baden-Württemberg as a business location. New jobs and apprenticeships can be created and secured for the future. The interest shown by Porsche AG and Robert Bosch GmbH is a clear sign of loyalty to the location and a commitment to investing in the future of Baden-Württemberg - even in difficult times. The district of Ludwigsburg and the municipality of Schwieberdingen are committed to the development of the location and create optimal conditions for the companies. However, successful further development of the regional commercial center can only succeed if there is, as before, close and trusting cooperation between citizens, municipalities, private property owners and companies."
District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier:
"Our companies in the Ludwigsburg district make a significant contribution to the economic strength of Baden-Württemberg. The well-developed infrastructure and our attractive towns and municipalities offer ideal location conditions for skilled trades, medium-sized companies and global players. In order to maintain economic strength, we also need expansion areas such as the planned regional commercial hub in Schwieberdingen."
Mayor Nico Lauxmann:
"I am very pleased about the support of the state government and in particular the minister with regard to our objective of realizing the regional commercial hub. In an exemplary process, the citizens of Schwieberdingen weighed up the advantages and disadvantages of the commercial hub and decided by a majority in favour of its realization. The task now is to combine nature, agriculture and the planned regional business hub and to work out a solution with all those involved in order to achieve our goal of creating sustainable jobs in our community."
