"What is your husband's name? I think Auguste"

"Dementia - stay connected" - is the motto of Dementia Week in the Ludwigsburg district from September 19 to 25. The kick-off event for Dementia Week Dementia Week will take place on September 20 at 18:00 in the Ludwigsburg district hall.

"What's your name? Auguste. Family name? Auguste. What is your husband's name? I think Auguste. Your
husband? Oh, my husband... Are you married? To Auguste." In 1901, the doctor and
brain researcher Alois Alzheimer opened a medical file on a medical case that aroused his curiosity
and his spirit of research. His patient Auguste Deter showed symptoms that he had never before
observed. Neither in examinations nor in long conversations does he get to the bottom of the
disease. Only after her death does he gain certainty about the hitherto mysterious
disease that will be given his name.

The reading paints a portrait of the disease, provides an insight into the "institutions" and methods
of brain researchers at the beginning of the twentieth century and describes the enigmatic relationship
between Auguste D. and Alois Alzheimer. Ulrike Hofmann, the author of the stage version,
reads together with actor Basil Dorn.

Participation in the reading is free of charge. Registration is required and is possible up to one day before the event at
