What the Ludwigsburg light rail system should be called

The Ludwigsburg light rail system is coming - and will offer a completely new form of mobility between Markgröningen, Ludwigsburg, Schwieberdingen and Remseck Aldingen. The fundamental political decisions required for this have now been and the concrete planning work is due to start at the beginning of 2023. Now a a suitable name for the light rail system. That is why the special-purpose association Stadtbahn im Ludwigsburg district has launched a naming competition.

A young woman is standing in a bus, holding a cup, looking thoughtfully ahead. The text announces a name contest for Ludwigsburg's public transport, offering a chance to win a 100€ voucher and tickets to a local event. Participation ends on October 6, 2022.

"What we still need now is an innovative and catchy name for our future light rail system," says District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier, Chairman of the responsible StadtbahnZweckverband. "With the light rail system in the Ludwigsburg district, we want to make a sustainable contribution to climate protection and offer citizens an attractive alternative to the car. Such a large and modern project needs a name that as many people as possible can identify with. That is why we are inviting the public to get involved with their ideas and opinions, because it is "their" light rail system."

Frank von Meißner, Managing Director of the Zweckverband Stadtbahn im Landkreis Ludwigsburg, adds: "We have now launched an online naming competition. In the first stage, we are collecting name suggestions until October 6. In a second stage, the name suggestions can then be voted on."

A lively participation is expected: "We are already sensing a strong interest in the light rail. With the new name, this project will now also have a face," say those responsible at the special-purpose association.

Name suggestions can be submitted online via the website www.bahnfrei-lb.de/name until October 6. This will be followed by a 2nd and 3rd round of the competition in which the public can choose the "best" name.

All participants will be entered into a prize draw to win a €100 shopping voucher and tickets to the Blühende Barock.
