"You have made an extraordinary contribution to schools run by Protestant organizations in southwest Germany and nationwide," continued District Administrator Haas. In his laudatory speech, District Administrator Dr. Rainer Haas highlighted the numerous achievements of the honoree. For example, Werner Kast was instrumental in the development of the gross cost model for subsidizing independent schools in Baden-Württemberg. He was also responsible for the "Mathematics Quality Initiative" training program. "You have gladly contributed your skills in dealing with numbers and have shown yourself responsible for the finances of the association even after your work as chairman," emphasized District Administrator Haas.
Kast also organized annual conferences as Chairman of the Protestant School Association of Southwest Germany, creating an important platform for students, teachers and parents to exchange ideas. "In addition, you were also jointly responsible for shaping education policy nationwide in your role for ten years," said District Administrator Haas, praising Kast's commitment. "Thanks to your balanced approach, you succeeded in stabilizing the school alliances and strengthening their importance," continued Haas. In all his activities, Kast always had the good of the community in mind. "You saw your voluntary work as a service to society without putting yourself in the foreground. Your respectful and responsible manner earned you a great deal of trust," said District Administrator Haas at the end of his laudatory speech.
Werner Kast is a retired senior teacher. He has been a teacher at the Evangelisches Heidehof-Gymnasium in Stuttgart since 1965 and was principal of the school from 1978 to 2002. In addition to his professional activities, he was chairman of the Protestant School Association in Southwest Germany from 1981 to 2005 and a member of the Baden-Württemberg Association of Independent Schools until 2014. The Protestant School Association of Southwest Germany is the representative body and mouthpiece of Protestant schools in Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate and is responsible for a total of 30 schools.
