The district of Ludwigsburg has been providing work opportunities for refugees in its accommodation facilities for years. Around 100 people are currently taking on tasks such as cleaning services, waste disposal, helping to furnish rooms and interpreting.
"Work opportunities provide refugees with a meaningful and structured daily activity. They help refugees to learn the language through contact with the local population and thus promote integration," emphasized District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier.
Goal: 300 new work opportunities with the support of local authorities
In order to expand the offer, the district, together with the district municipalities, has set itself the goal of creating 300 new job opportunities across the district. However, implementation in all district municipalities is only feasible with the support of these and, if necessary, independent providers. It remains to be seen to what extent the employment of refugees will then have to be enforced. District Administrator Allgaier made it clear: "We will do this if necessary. So far, the district has always found enough volunteers for the work it has made available."
Work opportunities for citizens' allowance recipients: prospects for the long-term unemployed
At the same time, the Ludwigsburg district job center is currently providing 164 work opportunities. These are aimed exclusively at citizens' allowance recipients who already have unrestricted access to the labor market. Jürgen Vogt, Head of the Department for Law, Order and Transport, explained to the committee: "However, where other measures have been exhausted, work opportunities can also provide useful support for labor market integration. This option is also used by the job center."
The measures serve to establish a daily structure, strengthen work and social behavior and improve employability. Areas of work include green maintenance, school catering and charitable projects.
At the upcoming mayors' meeting, the district of Ludwigsburg will once again
intensively promote the provision of work opportunities, provide information about the modalities and offer its support to all district municipalities.
