The leisure buses normally start the season between the end of March and the beginning of May and take excursionists and their bike trailers to the various excursion destinations in the region at the weekend. However, the start of the season was postponed due to the restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The buses have been back on the route since May 16, but without bike trailers.
There are ten leisure bus routes in the VVS network area:
- Stromer (Ludwigsburg district)
- WeinKulTourer (Ludwigsburg district)
- Berg- und Talbus (Ludwigsburg district and Rems-Murr district)
- Räuberbus (Rems-Murr district)
- Forest bus (Rems-Murr district)
- Limesbus North/South (Rems-Murr district)
- Blue Wall (Esslingen district)
- Schopflocher Alb (Esslingen district)
- Swabian Alb (Esslingen district)
- Reußenstein (Esslingen district/Göppingen district)
As many bus companies are still blocking front boarding, the VVS recommends that anyone who does not have a season ticket should buy VVS tickets on their cell phone, for example via the "VVS mobil" app.
The VVS continues to appeal to its passengers to urgently comply with the obligation to wear masks in the vehicles and at the stops and stations. In addition, the known hygiene regulations should be strictly observed. This applies to the protection of passengers and bus drivers on leisure bus routes, especially when loading and unloading bicycles onto and from bicycle trailers. Passengers should show consideration for each other and observe the minimum distance.
Passengers can find out about their personal connections in the VVS timetable information at vvs.de or via the "VVS mobil" app.
