The aim of the campaign is to cycle as many distances as possible in teams over three weeks and collect kilometers - whether it's on the way to work, to school, to the shops or in your free time. In this way, everyone can experience and discover the many benefits of cycling for themselves and make a lasting change to their own mobility behavior beyond the campaign. Anyone who pedals towards a common goal strengthens both the community and their own health while protecting the climate.
District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier is also delighted: "The CITY CYCLING competition is of course once again a fixed date in our district's calendar this year. Cycling is climate-friendly, healthy and close to our hearts in the district of Ludwigsburg and I am convinced that the competition is a great opportunity to try out cycling for the first time, rediscover it or make it a permanent activity. This is how we can achieve the traffic turnaround together!"
Once again, all 39 municipalities took part in CITY CYCLING
In the district of Ludwigsburg, all 39 municipalities have once again registered for CITY CYCLING in 2024. The more people cycle, the more kilometers are collected for the district and the moreCO2 is saved. If you would like to take part, you can register either for your municipality or your district at the following link: https://www.stadtradeln.de/registrieren
With the free CITY CYCLING app, participants can track the distances cycled via GPS and credit them directly to their team and their municipality. The results overview shows at a glance where the team and the municipality stand. In the team chat, members can arrange to cycle together or cheer each other on. Using the CITY CYCLING app has another major advantage: the routes recorded with the app are anonymized, scientifically evaluated and elaborately visualized by TU Dresden. The data prepared in this way can be viewed by the CITY CYCLING municipalities and used for needs-based local cycling planning.
Further information is available on the district's CITY CYCLING subpage at www.stadtradeln.de/landkreis-ludwigsburg.
RadKULTUR initiative: Cycling is to be promoted and increased
Baden-Württemberg is committed to modern and sustainable mobility. To this end, the proportion of cycling in the mobility mix is to be significantly increased. The RadKULTUR initiative funded by the
Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Transport has been a central measure of the state since 2012 to support a bicycle-friendly mobility culture. In close cooperation with local authorities and companies and with the support of a constantly growing partner network, the initiative offers people positive cycling experiences in their individual everyday mobility. This makes it clear that the bicycle makes it possible to be mobile in everyday life in a contemporary and climate-friendly way. More information is available at www.radkultur-bw.de.
