Extension of the free transport service: so that people with disabilities can participate in social life or run errands themselves

An individual transport service for people with disabilities in the district of Ludwigsburg who are unable to use local public transport due to their disability has been made possible by the district's financial support since 1985. The service has been extended for the year 2022. The free transport service is intended to enable people with disabilities to take part in social life, visit friends and relatives or events, or run errands themselves.

A white van is parked, featuring branding for "Landkreis Ludwigsburg." The rear of the van is open, displaying a wheelchair ramp extended down to the ground, indicating accessibility features for passengers with mobility needs. The setting includes trees and a building in the background.

The transport service is financed by the district. The Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe and Malteser Hilfsdienst are responsible for the transport service.

The service is aimed at disabled people in the district of Ludwigsburg who do not live in a home, have a severely disabled person's pass with the "aG", "H" or "Bl" mark and are unable to use local public transport due to their disability.

Before using the transport service for the first time, eligibility is checked using a questionnaire.

Ride requests should be directed to the Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe control center from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. by calling 0711 13678945. Ride requests should be made as early as possible, but at least two days before the planned ride. The trips are subject to capacity.

The trips are offered from Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 10 pm. On Sundays and public holidays, the transport service is available from 10 am to 10 pm. In exceptional cases, a ride can also take place outside of this time frame.
