Environmental award to be relaunched

Exemplary and imaginative actions in the field of nature and environmental protection, climate change adaptation and environmental education are sought: The district of Ludwigsburg is once again inviting entries for the environmental prize.

The Ludwigsburg district environmental prize is being relaunched. After a lengthy interruption, the environmental prize is being offered again as part of the integrated climate protection concept for the district of Ludwigsburg.

With the environmental award, the district wants to highlight citizens, school groups, kindergarten groups, associations, clubs and other working groups for their commitment in the field of environmental protection and encourage further commitment. "The district of Ludwigsburg and the Environmental and Nature Conservation Foundation of the Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg would like to make a contribution to a conscious and sustainable environmental policy," emphasizes District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier.

Prize money totaling 10,000 euros is available for the awarding of the environmental prize. This can be divided among several prize winners. The prize is awarded to voluntary initiatives and campaigns that have not yet received any public funding or recognition for the registered activity.

Individuals and groups of people in the district of Ludwigsburg who have carried out projects in environmental and nature conservation and habitat preservation in their community or across the district can apply, for example in nature and species conservation, the creation, improvement, maintenance or regeneration of habitats, the targeted protection of endangered native animal and plant species and water conservation.

An important new focus of the environmental award is on measures that serve to adapt to climate change, such as the expansion and networking of functional open spaces in populated areas, the improvement of the village or city climate through greening, air pollution control or the promotion of sustainable mobility through car sharing, cargo bike sharing or job bikes. Projects in environmental education such as children's programs in nature, species and climate protection can also be funded.

It is important to note that the measures and initiatives proposed for the award must have already been implemented, but must not have been implemented more than two years ago.
