Line closure between Schwieberdingen and Heimerdingen on December 17, 2025

During a regular inspection of the track section of the Strohgäubahn, it was found in the Hemmingen area between the Schwieberdinger Straße level crossing and the level crossing that the measured values for the track bed were outside the permissible range. As an immediate measure, initial tamping work will be carried out in the track bed on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. For this purpose, the track in the affected area will be fully closed from 8 am to 4 pm.

On Wednesday, December 17, 2025, the first tamping work will be carried out on the track bed of the Strohgäubahn in the Hemmingen area between the Schwieberdinger Straße level crossing and the level crossing.

During this time, trains will only run between Korntal and Schwieberdingen. A rail replacement service has been set up between Schwieberdingen and Heimerdingen. The rail replacement service cannot call at Hemmingen station.

The morning school train is not affected by the full closure and will run as normal.

Further repair work during the carnival holidays

To ensure that as few passengers as possible are affected by the closure, further construction work will take place during the 2026 carnival vacations. This will require a full closure of around one week. The tenders are currently being prepared. Until the work can be completed, a slow lane has been set up in the affected area for safety reasons. As this is only a very short section of the route, no negative effects on journey times are to be expected as a result of the slow speed limit.
