The renovation work on district road 1617 between the end of Winzerhausen and the junction with the L 1115 has been completed. The road will be reopened to traffic on Tuesday. Minor remaining work will be completed until the weekend with traffic using day construction sites.
The construction work took around four weeks. The Holzweiler Hof was always accessible. The work was therefore carried out in sections and only one section of the road was fully closed at a time so that the hamlet could be approached from one direction at a time.
The work was necessary because the existing road surface was very thin. This means that the binder on the surface had disintegrated over the years. In addition, numerous cracks in the network were found. The district of Ludwigsburg has invested around 350,000 euros in maintaining the traffic infrastructure for the entire stretch. The road construction authority would like to thank all road users for their understanding of the disruption.
The town of Großbottwar has taken advantage of the renovation of the road to lay empty conduit crossings under the carriageway for possible future broadband expansion. The numerous manhole covers, traffic guidance systems and road markings were also completely renewed on this section of road.
