Steep slope app "Echt.Schön.Schräg." wins prize

Great joy in the district of Ludwigsburg: the steep slope app "Echt.Schön.Schräg." has been awarded the Wine Tourism Prize 2024. This is awarded by Tourismus Marketing GmbH Baden-Württemberg together with the Baden Winegrowers' Association and the Württemberg Winegrowers' Association.

A group of five people stands smiling in front of a bright pink backdrop. They are holding awards and glasses, celebrating a key achievement in the wine industry. The setting suggests a sunny day outdoors with a scenic view in the background.

Anna-Lena Heimerdinger (left, employee of the tourism department of the Ludwigsburg district office), District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier and Stefanie Bartzsch (right), head of the district development, climate protection, mobility and tourism department, accepted the award from State Secretary Dr. Patrick Rapp (center) and TMBW Managing Director Andreas Braun.

District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier is delighted with the award. "With the steep slope app 'Echt.Schön.Schräg.', we have created an innovative tool that sustainably enriches wine tourism in our region and at the same time makes it possible to experience the unique cultural landscape of our steep slopes," emphasizes Allgaier. "This award is well-deserved recognition for all those involved, whose commitment made this project possible."

More than 1,500 downloads: Steep slope app "Echt.Schön.Schräg." already a great success

The "Echt.Schön.Schräg." app was officially presented in September 2022 and is available free of charge in the app stores. It offers a variety of functions that combine tourism, business promotion and knowledge transfer. Users can explore hiking trails and leisure activities in the steep slopes, find out about local wineries and expand their knowledge with a quiz and augmented reality elements. The app was developed under the direction of the Ludwigsburg District Office in collaboration with several municipalities and regional tourism associations and programmed by the agency cognitio Kommunikation & Planung GmbH. With over 1,500 downloads since its launch, the app has already been a great success and demonstrates the potential of digital solutions for the tourism of the future. The app was funded as part of the program for co-financing regional model projects and cooperation in the area of business and tourism promotion of the Stuttgart Region Association.

The award was presented by Dr. Patrick Rapp, State Secretary in the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism, and the Managing Director of Tourismus Marketing GmbH Baden-Württemberg, Andreas Braun.

Since 2012, the Wine Tourism Prize has been awarded to outstanding offers from the wine-growing regions of Baden and Württemberg that present viticulture for tourism in a unique way and strengthen the importance of viticulture in the regional landscape. After a break in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, the award has been providing important impetus for wine tourism in the state again since 2022.
