The figures for the campaign sponsored by the Rad-KULTUR state initiative rose significantly. With 87% more cyclists (6196, previous year 3114), 96% more teams (358, previous year 183) and 89% more kilometers cycled (1.5 million, previous year 0.8 million), the previous year's result was almost doubled. It is particularly pleasing that the number of participating municipalities has also increased (15, previous year 11) - all in all a strong sign of the cycling culture in the district.
In order to properly honor the winners despite the corona-related cancellation of a central closing event, the district's two cycling officers, Madeleine Janker and Lisa Röthinger, will personally present the prizes in the coming weeks - by bike, of course.
The most active CITY CYCLING teams 2020 from the district of Ludwigsburg at a glance:
- 1st place most active cycling municipality (most km per inhabitant): Schwieberdingen
- 2nd place most active cycling municipality (most km per inhabitant): Freiberg a.N.
- 3rd place most active cycling municipality (most km per inhabitant): Steinheim a. d. M.
- 1st place cycling team (total kilometers): W&W Group
- 2nd place cycling team (total kilometers): Bosch@Si
- 3rd place cycling team (total kilometers): Ludwigsburg City Council
Of course, the best individual results will also be awarded - the three cyclists cycled over 2,500 kilometers in the three-week campaign period - without a motor! As a thank-you, ten bike packages were raffled off among all participants in the CITY CYCLING campaign.
The employees of the district administration office also formed a team and eagerly collected kilometers. District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier honored the team members at an internal event and presented them with small gifts. The district administrator was very pleased with the overall result of the STADTRA-DELN competition: "A total of over 1.5 million kilometers - the district of Ludwigsburg can be very proud of this cycling performance. Together with many other districts in Baden-Württemberg, our district is one of the pioneers of climate-friendly mobility. I am very pleased that we were able to demonstrate our team spirit again this year at the CITY CYCLING event with many kilometers collected. I would like to congratulate the winners of CITY CYCLING!" This is the fourth time the campaign has taken place in the district. Participation is also planned for next year. Municipalities that would like to take part can contact the cycling officers at the Ludwigburg district office directly at radverkehr[at]landkreis-ludwigsburg.de.
