Strong start for the Energy & Climate corporate network

The new Energy & Climate business network was successfully launched on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 with a well-attended kick-off event at the Ludwigsburg district hall. Together, the district and city of Ludwigsburg are sending a strong signal for more exchange, practical cooperation and effective climate protection in the regional economy.

Head of Department Kristin Wagner welcomed the participants to the district hall (Ludwigsburg District Office).

As part of a World Café, the participants discussed specific potential applications of AI and climate protection in their own company (Ludwigsburg District Office).

Network strengthens companies throughout the district

The new network, which emerged from the previous Ludwigsburg Climate Alliance, is aimed at companies from the district of Ludwigsburg. Small and medium-sized companies in particular should benefit from new contacts, joint solutions and the exchange of information on energy and climate issues. "During the economic development strategy process, it became clear that networks for small and medium-sized enterprises are very much in demand. We would like to build on this with the Energy and Climate Business Network," emphasized Kristin Wagner, Head of the Environment, Technology and Construction Department, in her welcoming address.

AI as the key to sustainable business

The first event focused on the topic of "AI for sustainable and resource-efficient companies". In her presentation, Katharina Strecker from the Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW) showed how artificial intelligence can help companies to manage energy consumption and resources more efficiently. "AI has enormous potential to make business processes more sustainable. The greatest leverage is often provided by small AI models that offer great potential for saving resources and energy consumption through predictions and optimization," said Strecker.

Practical exchange in the World Café

In addition to technical input, the focus was primarily on direct exchange. As part of a World Café, the participants discussed specific potential applications of AI and climate protection in their own companies. It became clear that there is a great need for practical solutions and mutual support. The event provided numerous impulses for transferring new ideas into operational practice.

Stability through networking in challenging times

Anke Riedel from the city of Ludwigsburg and Inge Günsel from the climate protection department of the district office introduced the goals of the new network and emphasized the importance of cooperation. Especially in times of multiple crises, stable networks are an important success factor in order to make companies resilient and fit for the future.
Further offers

The successful launch has laid the foundation for further activities. The district of Ludwigsburg continues to support companies with, among other things, twelve initial energy consultations financed by the Ludwigsburg District Energy Agency (LEA e.V.) each year. At the next network meeting on July 28, 2026, the W&W Group will provide an insight into its sustainability activities. In addition to a tour of the campus, participants can expect information on the new EU certification mark for sustainable catering "Green Canteen" and the DGNB Platinum certification for buildings and urban districts.
