Two districts, four weeks, ten stations - this was the motto of the 1st District Challenge organized by RegioRadStuttgart together with the districts of Böblingen and Ludwigsburg and the Verband Region Stuttgart. The district of Böblingen achieved 227 rentals at five previously selected stations of the RegioRadStuttgart inter-municipal bicycle and pedelec rental system - 33 more than the district of Ludwigsburg. As autumn champion, the district of Böblingen has now been presented with a RegioRadStuttgart package with free minute vouchers.
The district of Böblingen took part with the stations at the district administration office in Böblingen, the Gottlieb Daimler School in Sindelfingen, the two stations at Böblingen and Sindelfingen railroad stations and the station at Postplatz in Böblingen city center. District Administrator Roland Bernhard is delighted that users in the Böblingen district rented the bikes and pedelecs the most and that the district won the challenge: "Our goal in the Böblingen district is the mobility transition - more bikes, buses and trains instead of cars and traffic jams. This is good for people, the environment and the climate. The seamless linking of the various mobility options is crucial for commuters and adult schoolchildren to avoid using their cars. The RegioRadStuttgart stations play a central role in this. With 28 stations in seven municipalities in our district, including two stations at the district administration office, the rental system offers an attractive range of mobility options in our area - whether for the journey to work or school, spontaneous errands or leisure trips with the whole family. We will be giving away the free minute vouchers to our citizens in a special promotion."
Ludwigsburg District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier also draws a positive balance: "Even if it was just not enough for first place, we are pleased about the lively participation in the cycling campaign. In the district of Ludwigsburg, a total of 194 bikes were borrowed at the stations at the district hall and the vocational school center as well as at the two stations at Ludwigsburg train station and the station at Ludwigsburg hospital. The two stations at Ludwigsburg railroad station are particularly popular. The RegioRadStuttgart family now includes twelve towns and municipalities throughout the district, as well as one company and the district itself. The bikes and pedelecs can be rented at 30 stations. The service will also be expanded in the future." The district of Ludwigsburg will not go away empty-handed either and will receive an advertising package from RegioRadStuttgart as a consolation prize.
Dr. Nicola Schelling, Regional Director of the Verband Region Stuttgart, congratulates the district of Böblingen on taking first place: "The district challenge was a great opportunity to simply try out the comfortable bikes and pedelecs from RegioRadStuttgart and it's great that both districts pedalled so hard. As the operator of the S-Bahn, we were of course particularly pleased that the stations at the S-Bahn stops had a particularly high number of rentals." Ralf Maier-Geißer, overall coordinator of RegioRadStuttgart, congratulates the district of Böblingen on its victory on behalf of the entire municipal family of the attractive rental system. "The campaign has shown how attractive RegioRadStuttgart can be for different purposes and uses. The selected stations offer a flexible and environmentally friendly mobility option for commuters as well as for tourist and leisure activities. We are particularly pleased that the two districts are actively contributing to the further expansion of the rental system through their own stations."
Deutsche Bahn Connect GmbH, service provider of the RegioRadStuttgart bike and pedelec rental system, evaluates the rental figures precisely, and not just as part of the Challenge. Holger Krämer, Partner Manager at DB Connect, is delighted: "RegioRadStuttgart is climate and environmentally friendly mobility. As Deutsche Bahn, we therefore attach great importance to linking up with public transport at train stations, S-Bahn and light rail stations. The district challenge shows that passengers are using sustainable travel chains." The free minutes in the polygoCard tariff are particularly practical for short journeys within the city: you get 30 free minutes for every journey on a bike, and the first 15 minutes are free on a pedelec. This means you can not only cycle from A to B in a flexible and environmentally friendly way, but also very cheaply. The regional VVS polygoCard, which can also be used to store your public transport season ticket, is available free of charge at www.mypolygo.de.
The public and region-wide bicycle and pedelec rental system RegioRadStuttgart has more than 200 stations in the state capital and over 40 other towns and municipalities in the region. Over 1,500 bicycles and pedelecs as well as ten cargo pedelecs are available for hire for a wide range of uses.
