"Sexual violence has no place": Pupils honored for their participation in art competition

The district-wide information campaign for the "Immediate medical help after rape" project initiated by the district health department has entered the next round: Today, Tuesday (November 19), students from Friedrich-Schiller-Gymnasium and Elly-Heuss-Knapp-Realschule were honored for an art project.

Pupils from Elly-Knapp-Realschule and Friedrich-Schiller-Gymnasium were honored on Tuesday for the art competition "Sexual violence has no place" (Ludwigsburg District Office).

In Ludwigsburg, the "Immediate medical assistance after rape" project has been running since November 2021 at the RKH Klinikum, one of four clinics in Baden-Württemberg. The campaign for the project is gradually coming to an end in 2024. Under the direction of district office employee Mandy Bronner, a comprehensive information campaign was launched, which began with eye-catching billboards at various locations throughout the district. This striking approach was intended to draw the public's attention to the issue and raise awareness of the important support available to those affected. This was followed by the exciting school competition, which called on young talents to give free rein to their creativity and express their thoughts and feelings on this sensitive topic through art.

"Sexual violence has no place" was the theme of the art competition, in which pupils from Friedrich-Schiller-Gymnasium (FGS) and Elly-Knapp-Realschule (EHK) took part. "With their sensitive and impressive works, the young artists have encouraged people to engage with this important topic," says Dr. Uschi Traub, Head of Health Promotion in the Health Department of the Ludwigsburg District Office. First place went to Miriam Tuchel (EHK) and second place to Yolanda Kuhn (FSG). Third place went to Eren Akgül, Henri Haas and Leonhard Weil (FSG). Winner Miriam Tuchel on the art competition: "I found working on the project very important because it helps others and you can help people who are affected by this serious issue. Through the project, you find out where you can get help."

"The first steps after a rape should be full of compassion and medical care. This help not only protects the body, but also strengthens the soul," added First Mayor Renate Schmetz. Also present in the auditorium of the Friedrich-Schiller-Gymnasium in Ludwigsburg were the principal of the Friedrich-Schiller-Gymnasium, Ulrich von Sanden, the principal of the Elly-Heuss-Knapp-Realschule, Heidrun Gross, Dr. Uschi Traub and dedicated subject teachers. The event took place in the run-up to the Day against Violence against Women. At the end of the program, the pupils sang the song "Speechless" from the film "Aladdin".

City cards, video board and banners: project sends a strong signal

Thanks to the support of the Kreissparkassenstiftung Gesundheit im Landkreis Ludwigsburg, it was possible to expand the campaign. The message of the "Immediate medical help after rape" project was also spread via CityCards, which were distributed at numerous locations in the district and thus reached an even wider audience. The project was put in the spotlight several times a week and up to 300 times a day on the video board at the bus station in Bietigheim-Bissingen. The crowning glory of the campaign was the bridge banners that were put up at two locations. They were intended to once again draw attention to the project and send out a strong signal - for a society in which everyone receives the support and help they deserve.
