Schullandheim Strümpfelbrunn: Donation makes it possible: A roof for the two barbecue areas

The two covered barbecue areas at the Strümpfelbrunn school hostel were inaugurated these days. The project was made possible by a donation of 30,000 euros from the Helga Schaaf Foundation. "The roofing over the two fire pits means great added value for the school camp: on warm summer evenings around the campfire with a barbecue, but also as a shelter in the rain or to provide shade. The wide range of leisure activities on offer at the school camp is now one attraction richer," said Dietmar Allgaier, District Administrator and Chairman of the Strümpfelbrunn School Camp Foundation.

A group of twelve people gathers under a wooden gazebo, sitting around a fire pit on gravel ground. They are smiling, wearing casual clothing, and are surrounded by greenery. A stack of firewood is visible in the background. The atmosphere appears friendly and relaxed.

There is a covered fireplace to the right of the main building and a second covered fireplace on the grounds behind the building. The roofing was built by a carpentry firm from neighboring Waldbrunn-Schollbrunn. Due to the extremely dry weather, it was unfortunately forbidden to light the fire bowls in the barbecue lounge during the inauguration. But the visitors were nevertheless treated to homemade sausages, meat and vegetarian dishes from the gas grill as well as an extensive salad buffet by hostel manager and grill master Kai Bachert, supported by his wife Corinna and the house and kitchen team. Such a rich barbecue buffet is offered to all guests of the school hostel on request.

The Stiftung Schullandheim Strümpfelbrunn is funded in equal parts by the Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg and the district of Ludwigsburg. District Administrator Allgaier thanked Helga Schaaf for the generous donation from her foundation, Thomas Raab, board member of the Strümpfelbrunn School Country Home Foundation and the Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg, for the support of the Kreissparkasse as a partner of the Strümpfelbrunn School Country Home Foundation, as well as the hostel parents Corinna and Kai Bachert and their house and kitchen team for their work and commitment at the Strümpfelbrunn School Country Home. The head of the district administration also thanked the orchestra of the Blasmusikkreisverband Ludwigsburg e. V. for the successful musical conclusion to the event. The orchestra had just completed a one-week D2 course at the Strümpfelbrunn school hostel with 40 young musicians and six teachers.
