Strümpfelbrunn school hostel celebrates anniversary with ceremony

The Strümpfelbrunn school hostel celebrated its 55th anniversary with a colorful and atmospheric open day on Sunday, July 20, 2025. Numerous guests from the worlds of politics, education and culture accepted the invitation from the Ludwigsburg district - including pupils, alumni and many supporters of the school.

A group of seven people, dressed in formal and casual attire, stand around a newly planted tree. Each holds a red watering can, collectively watering the base of the tree in a green outdoor setting. They appear to be participating in a tree-planting ceremony.

A freshly planted winter lime tree was symbolically planted on the grounds of the school hostel - as a sign of peace, love and community (Ludwigsburg District Office).

A speaker stands at a podium, addressing an audience seated in front of him. Two musicians are positioned to the left, playing instruments. The setting is a tent or similar structure, decorated for an event, creating a lively atmosphere.

District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier welcomed the guests to the anniversary (Ludwigsburg District Office).

The ceremony was opened with music from the youth wind orchestra, which offered the guests a festive start with several pieces of music.

In his welcoming address, District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier emphasized the special significance of the school country home for the district of Ludwigsburg: "Strümpfelbrunn is not a place - it is a feeling. A feeling of community, education, exercise and experiencing nature. It is a place where children surpass themselves and gain experiences that will shape them for the rest of their lives," said the head of the district administration.

Thomas Raab, member of the Management Board of Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg, added: "Children and young people are close to our hearts. Our commitment to young people and providing them with comprehensive educational opportunities is an important part of our long-term commitment. The Strümpfelbrunn school hostel has been a beacon for environmental and health education, sporting activities, making music together and inclusion for 55 years. We are delighted to be able to provide concrete benefits here."

District Administrator Dr. Achim Brötel (Neckar-Odenwald district), Deputy Mayor Norbert Bienek (Waldbrunn) and Wolfgang Klein (Chairman of the Ludwigsburg Brass Band Association) also praised the role of the school hostel as a place of active education, promotion of young musical talent and active work with children and young people in their welcoming speeches.

Hidden object book premiere and the symbol of the winter lime tree

A highlight of the program was the official handover of the hidden object books specially designed for the anniversary with the title "Im Schullandheim Strümpfelbrunn wimmelts".

Following further musical contributions, a freshly planted winter lime tree was symbolically planted in the grounds of the school country home together with all the guests - as a sign of peace, love and community.

In addition to the official part, visitors were treated to a varied hands-on program with a creative station, magic, games and regional catering. Guests were able to immortalize themselves in a specially installed guest book on Plexiglas, and a photo box provided lasting memories.
