Rapid testing of teachers and pupils: district supports cities and municipalities - District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier: "We want to make it easier and safer for schools to resume operations

The district is supporting its towns and municipalities with two measures for the rapid testing of teachers and pupils for the coronavirus.

A gloved hand holds a COVID-19 test device showing one green line and one red line. The test indicates the result of the COVID-19 test, with the labeling "COVID-19 (2019-nCoV)" visible on the device.

It is ramping up the existing drive-in test centre at the MHP Arena in Ludwigsburg: from 22 February, eligible persons with a certificate of eligibility - teachers, pupils and members of aid organizations - can be tested there in addition to the existing offers in the municipalities. From February 24, the district will also be sending two mobile test teams to the schools it supports, i.e. the vocational schools and the special education and counseling centers (SBBZ), to test teachers and, if necessary, pupils.

"In this way, we want to facilitate and secure the resumption of school operations," says District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier. At the same time, he makes an urgent appeal to the state and federal government: "The financing of the testing strategy must be clarified quickly and beyond doubt." Until then, the district will provide interim financing for the measures.

District Administrator Allgaier took the current 7-day incidence rate of 26.2 (as of 18 February) as an opportunity to thank the district's population: "The majority of the district's inhabitants are complying with the restrictive measures and the distancing and hygiene rules, which is reflected in the significant drop in the 7-day incidence rate, which is currently one of the lowest in Baden-Württemberg - thank you very much for that. We are on a very good path here and I would ask the population to continue to follow the guidelines so that we can overcome the pandemic."
