The renovation of the L 1100/L 1140 in the area of the Remseck-Neckargröningen bypass is proceeding according to plan. The first construction phase was successfully completed on August 31. Despite occasionally unfavorable weather and the resulting interruptions, the work was completed on schedule. This was made possible by careful planning of the construction process and the great dedication of everyone involved.
Work continues starting Thursday evening
Starting Thursday, September 3, at 8:00 p.m., the two lanes heading toward Ludwigsburg between the L 1100 junction to Stuttgart at the Neckargröningen bus station and the intersection of the L 1140 with the L 1100 will be repaired.
The work is scheduled to be completed by Monday, September 7. The road will then be reopened to traffic.
The next renovation project will begin immediately afterward: From Monday morning, September 7, through Monday morning, September 14, the Remseck-Aldingen bypass will be renovated. The section extends from the junction of Cannstatter Straße—the old thoroughfare through Aldingen—with the L 1100 to the junction of the L 1144 at the Aldingen tram depot.
The district is carrying out the work on behalf of the state of Baden-Württemberg. The state is covering the costs of approximately 700,000 euros.
Renewal of the asphalt layer to avoid extensive repairs
The asphalt surface course on both sections is about 20 years old. Cracks have since formed in increasing numbers. Rainwater can penetrate through these cracks into the underlying, load-bearing asphalt layers. Over time, this can cause damage that worsens, particularly during freezing conditions.
To avoid a costly and long-term rehabilitation, the upper asphalt surface course is therefore being renewed now. Due to the high volume of traffic on both routes, it is important to repair the roadway in a timely manner.
The work primarily consists of milling off the existing surface layer, laying a new asphalt surface layer approximately four centimeters thick, and subsequently repainting the road markings.
Impact on Traffic
From Thursday, September 3, at 8:00 p.m., through Monday, September 7, the L 1100 will be completely closed in the direction of Ludwigsburg (uphill). Both lanes in this direction will be affected. Downhill traffic toward Waiblingen or Stuttgart may continue as usual.
All vehicles headed for Ludwigsburg will be rerouted via the Aldingen bypass, the L 1144, and the K 1692 to Ludwigsburg.
Bus service is also affected by this closure. During this period, buses must travel through the town of Neckargröningen.
Following this, the Aldingen bypass will be completely closed in both directions from Monday morning, September 7, through Monday morning, September 14.
The following signposted detours will be in effect for traffic during this time:
Truck traffic from Marbach toward Stuttgart will be rerouted via the K 1666 to the L 1140 and on to Ludwigsburg via the B 27. The detour for truck traffic from Stuttgart toward Marbach or Waiblingen runs via the L 1144 and the K 1692 to Ludwigsburg and then via the L 1140 back to Remseck-Neckargröningen. From there, traffic can use the already completed lanes toward Waiblingen or turn toward Marbach at the junction where the K 1666 branches off from the L 1140. Passenger cars coming from Waiblingen and heading to Stuttgart must use the old route through Remseck-Aldingen during the closure. Truck traffic coming from Waiblingen must continue straight ahead at the Neckargröningen bus station via the L 1144 toward the B 27.
Work is scheduled to be completed as quickly as possible
By dividing the work into two consecutive construction phases, the impact on traffic will be kept to a minimum. The county asks all road users for their understanding regarding the disruptions and restrictions caused by the necessary closures and recommends using the posted detours and allowing for additional travel time accordingly.
