Roland Haug appointed district music director

Premiere at the 20th anniversary of the musical gala of the district youth orchestra (KJO): District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier awarded municipal music director and KJO conductor Roland Haug the newly created honorary title of "District Music Director". Haug is the first person in the district of Ludwigsburg to receive this award. With this award, the district council honors Haug's decades of outstanding commitment to brass music, the promotion of young people and the district's international partnerships. Haug has had a lasting influence on the musical landscape in the region for more than 40 years.

40 years of commitment to brass music

His musical career began in 1986 with the Ludwigsburg-Oßweil Music Association. Haug has particularly close ties with the district youth orchestra of the Ludwigsburg District Brass Band Association, which he has led since 1998 and previously accompanied as deputy conductor. Under his leadership, the orchestra has developed into a musical flagship of the district, in which around 80 young musicians are currently active. "Roland Haug has shaped generations of young people, promoted musical quality and enriched cultural life in the district of Ludwigsburg in the long term," said District Administrator Dietmar Allgaier. "With his extraordinary commitment, he is an example of the unifying power of music."

Active far beyond the conductor's podium

In addition to his work as a conductor, Haug has been involved for decades in numerous functions in the wind youth, in music clubs and in the Besigheim music school. He has played a key role in shaping the musical infrastructure in the Ludwigsburg district. He also sets international accents: concert tours and encounters - most recently a performance in Yichang (China) on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the partnership with the district of Ludwigsburg - underline his role as a cultural ambassador.

Award-winning commitment

Haug has already received numerous awards for his work, including the Medal of Merit of the Ludwigsburg district (2017) and numerous awards from the Baden-Württemberg Wind Music Association, including the Medal of Honor and Conductor's Pin in Gold with Diamond. In 2023, he also received the Gold Medal of Merit from the international music association CISM.

New honorary title for exceptional services

With the honorary title of "District Music Director", the district of Ludwigsburg is once again highlighting Haug's exceptional achievements. The title is based on the title "Stadtmusikdirektor" (municipal music director), but deliberately focuses on his commitment to the entire district.
