The extension will house nine classrooms, two workshop rooms, seven student workrooms, an SMV room, three teacher workrooms and the administration. As an elevator and a barrier-free toilet will be installed, inclusive schooling will also be possible. During the conversion of the existing building, twelve classrooms will be enlarged and the cafeteria and canteen area as well as the assembly hall will be modified to create a Cook&Chill kitchen. Special features of the construction project include the creation of covered bicycle parking spaces, building with recycled concrete, the integration of ventilation slats, which cool down overnight in summer, into the façade of the extension and a photovoltaic system on the roof. "The BW sustainable building criteria are therefore being observed," stated District Administrator Allgaier.

The head of the district administration continued: "Vocational training has a high priority in the district. Accordingly, the members of the district council are committed to ensuring that the vocational schools are well equipped." He thanked the members of the district council for the necessary building resolutions, the members of the project group for their support and project supervision, the building administration of the district administration office for their project supervision and the architects and craftsmen for their planning and construction work.

In 2017, the regional council identified an additional space requirement of around 1,500 square meters for the EBS, a commercial school with a high proportion of vocational schools run by the district. Following the joint development of implementation options and an initial preliminary draft in 2018, the district council made the decision in principle to expand the Erich Bracher School on January 25, 2019. 1,310 square meters will be created in the two-storey extension on the existing school grounds. According to current planning, the district is investing a total of 7.6 million euros in the extension and conversion of the existing EBS, while the conversion of the student recreation area (assembly hall and canteen) will cost a further 1.8 million euros. The extension buildings are scheduled for completion by September 2022, with construction work in the existing building due to be completed in February 2023 and in the assembly hall and canteen area in February 2024.
