Recycling as an art of living

How do you give new meaning to old things that nobody seems to need anymore? How do you turn hubcaps, old watches and crown caps into works of art? Isn't recycling actually the art of making something new out of something that is worn out? Answers to these questions are provided by artist Leyla Aydin, who is now exhibiting some of her works at the district's waste recycling company AVL.

A decorative car hubcap features a central circular section surrounded by multiple spokes. The hubcap is adorned with colorful paint splatters and small decorative items, creating a vibrant and artistic appearance. The overall design is both unique and eye-catching.

The vernissage of the exhibition "Ay-Tom - Art as Recycling" is on Thursday, April 11, 6 pm. On display are works whose components themselves are always unique and tell a story - colorful, lively and always surprising. Leyla Aydin is an artist and runs a café in Gerlingen. She uses waste materials to give them a new meaning in an artistic way. Guests at her café noticed the exhibits she displayed there and brought her other materials for further artistic processing. Leyla Aydin now regularly organizes art workshops for children and young people in her café. "The core idea of Ms. Aydin's art fits perfectly with our company motto: avoid, recycle, dispose. We want to avoid waste wherever possible and then recycle it in the best possible way instead of simply disposing of it. The art on display here adds a fourth keyword - "refine"," says Tilman Hepperle, Managing Director of AVL about the exhibition.

Info: The exhibition "Ay-Tom - Art from Recycling" can be seen until May 3 in the atrium of the first new building, Landratsamt Ludwigsburg, Hindenburgstraße 30/1. AVL is also based there.
