The Oßweil bypass will undergo repairs starting October 12

The L 1140 between the outskirts of Ludwigsburg and the Oßweil-Mitte entrance will undergo repairs starting Monday, October 12, 2026. The work is the third and final phase of a district-led renovation project commissioned by the Stuttgart Regional Council. During the summer break, the L 1100/L 1140 in the area of the Remseck-Neckargröningen bypass and the L 1100 in the area of the Aldingen bypass were already renovated.

Construction Site Lighting

Starting October 12, roadwork will take place between the Ludwigsburg city limits and the Oßweil-Mitte entrance (Ludwigsburg District Office).

The upcoming renovation project involves the section of the L 1140 between the intersection with Erlenweg near the ARAL gas station and Mühlhauser Straße (the turnoff to Oßweil). In this area, there are large cracks in the center of both lanes. A temporary repair is no longer possible due to the condition of the approximately 30-year-old asphalt surface course. Since the underlying asphalt binder course may also already be damaged, both upper asphalt layers will be replaced.

Preparatory work will begin this coming weekend (October 10 and 11). The actual resurfacing work will begin on Monday, October 12, at 7 a.m. The work will be carried out in two phases, each expected to last one week. During this process, the existing asphalt surface and binder courses will be milled off and then replaced. Finally, the necessary road marking work will be performed.

Impact on Traffic

The L 1140 will remain open to traffic in both directions throughout the entire construction period. The work will be carried out on one side of the road at a time. In each direction, one of the two lanes will be closed. During the first construction phase, the two lanes heading toward Ludwigsburg will be rehabilitated. During this time, traffic will be routed through the two lanes heading toward Remseck.

Starting Monday, October 19, traffic will be directed onto the then-completed lanes heading toward Ludwigsburg, and the two lanes heading toward Remseck will be rehabilitated.

Within the construction zone, the speed limit will be reduced to 50 kilometers per hour. In addition, the lanes will be narrowed to a width of 2.85 meters.

Access to Oßweil Restricted

During construction, access to and from Oßweil via Mühlhauser Straße will be completely closed. Only vehicles coming from Remseck will still be able to turn toward Oßweil. Access to and from Oßweil-Mitte via Mühlhauser Straße from the direction of Ludwigsburg will not be possible during the construction period. This affects both passenger cars and trucks as well as bus traffic. A revised route is required for bus service. When coming from Ludwigsburg, access to Oßweil is possible either before the construction site via Oststraße and then Schorndorfer Straße, or after the construction site via Neckargröninger Straße.

The restrictions on bus service will be in effect from Sunday, October 11, through Monday, October 26, 2026.

Renovation Program Nears Completion

The renovation of the L 1140 is the last of a total of three construction projects on the L 1100 and L 1140 that are being carried out during the summer break and in October on the heavily trafficked state roads in the district. Due to the high volume of traffic on the affected sections, the school vacation periods were deliberately chosen, along with short construction periods that include some night work, in order to minimize disruption to traffic.

The District Office asks all road users and residents for their understanding regarding the disruptions and restrictions associated with the construction work.
